Note from the Principals

Dear Frank Love Families,

Happy Spring. We hope that you and your families are enjoying the beautiful summer like weather over the last couple of weeks.  It’s amazing how just a little bit of sunshine can have such a positive impact on how one feels.  The smiley eyes (can’t see their actual smiles due to masks) of the students who are on campus also works like magic for uplifting one's soul.

Batch Testing:
This week, the Northshore School District launched the COVID-19 testing program for all students grades 2-12. If you have not already done so, I am asking you to go to this site to provide your consent for your student to participate in batch testing for COVID-19. This consent must be completed in order for your student to be included in the testing program. When you sign up, you will be asked to submit this unique code (ns-franklove), which will allow us to know which students and staff are participating in this important method to help keep COVID-19 cases low and school buildings open.

As the name “batch” suggests, everyone in a classroom or cohort puts their test samples together in a batch vial with no names or personally identifiable information.

Here is a video that was shared with students about COVID batch testing.

A few key points to emphasize:

  • Students in Grades 2-12 can test

  • Your child will only be tested if you give your consent at this link. Frank Love’s unique code is: ns-franklove

  • To opt out your child, click on this link.

  • If a student or staff member is opted out of testing, but their classroom or first-period class cohort has a positive COVID test result, they will still be required to quarantine for 14 days.

We have now completed two days of testing and the process continues to go smoothly. Your student’s participation will help us keep transmissions in our school buildings low so we can keep school buildings open. Thank you for your consideration.

Portable Sinks:
Three outdoor portable sinks were delivered for our portables just prior to the school reopening and are being used by our students.  Your advocacy in bringing this matter forward is greatly appreciated.

Efforts to keep all students connected:
We have two all school assemblies planned to keep students connected and school spirit high.  We are still in the planning stages and will share more information as we get closer to the dates. Please mark Wednesday, May 5 and Wednesday, June 2 from 9:15-9:45 on your calendar.

Enjoy your weekend!

Sincerely,
Katy French, Principal
Denise Waters, Assistant Principal

Health Room News

Seasonal Allergies vs. COVID – How to keep your child in school!

As you can see by the CDC graphic above, seasonal allergies and COVID have many of the same symptoms! To keep our student population and staff safe, we send students home who have any one of the symptoms above in the darkened area of the circles.

If your child has known seasonal allergies and you want to avoid having them sent home, you can send in a letter from their healthcare provider documenting their diagnosis along with their expected symptoms. Please reach out to me with questions, thank you! Nurse Shelly 425-408-4606.

Message from the School Counselor

Dear Frank Love Families,

Lunch Bunch: Mrs. Henne and I are now hosting Lunch Bunch on WEDNESDAYS! Everyone is welcome to attend. Next week’s theme will be jokes & games. Bring a joke or riddle to share if you would like!

Lunch Bunch Schedule on Wednesdays:
K/1 11:00-11:30
2nd 11:30-12:00
3rd 12:00-12:30
4/5 12:30-1:00

Empathy: I will continue to work with students on friendship and problem solving skills as they navigate their new classroom configurations. One important friendship skill is empathy. We practice empathy by considering others feelings and realizing that we all have different perspectives. When we have empathy, we treat others as we would like to be treated. See here for a read aloud about empathy, “A Little Spot of Empathy” by Diane Alber.

Take care,
Mrs. Weber
