Note from the Principals

Dear Frank Love Families,

We hope you had an opportunity to enjoy the all school assembly with your student on Wednesday, or at least have heard about it. We had some great fun together with the Frank Love version of The Masked Dancer! It was so fun to gather virtually and to recognize two students who will be representing Frank Love at the upcoming C.P. & Dorothy Johnson Humanitarian Award ceremony.

The C.P. & Dorothy Johnson Humanitarian Award recognizes students who demonstrate the characteristics of a humanitarian, by displaying the values of Acceptance, Community and Advocacy.  The C.P. & Dorothy Johnson Humanitarian Award has been specifically established for the purpose of promoting and recognizing characteristics of humanitarianism in Northshore School District students. Recipients of the award consistently value the dignity of others, treat others with respect, and promote the common good.

We honor and recognize Hailey Chi and Xavier Hayes as our recipients of the C.P. Johnson Humanitarian Award for embodying these values and for sharing their love and care for others at Frank Love and in the broader community!  You can watch the Northshore School District ceremony on Thursday, May 20 by going to www.nsd.org/humanitarian.

The students and staff are looking forward to our next virtual all school assembly in early June and the next Frank Love version of The Masked Dancer to see what other contestants come up with for their dance routines and costumes!

Lastly, a safety reminder: Please remember to make a right turn only out of the parking lot before and after school for our students’ safety. Thank you!

Have a great weekend!

Northshore Virtual Program

As we plan for full time in-person learning to resume in September 2021, we recognize that there are students who thrived while learning online or who do not yet feel comfortable coming back to in-person learning due to COVID-19 and the unpredictable nature of the pandemic. Therefore, the District is planning to offer the Northshore Virtual Program for the 2021-2022 school year. The Program will support student learning in a 100% online format for any interested student in grades K-12. You can learn more by visiting www.nsd.org/nvp. In order to support our planning efforts, you are encouraged to submit your Intent to Enroll form for this program as soon as possible.

Health Room News

Daily Health Checks
Thank you for completing the daily health check before 8:30am on your student’s hybrid days.  At 8:30am we print a list of students who are missing a health check.  As each student arrives to the screening area, we look to see if their name is on the “missing daily health check list.”  If they are on the list, we need to manually look up their health check on an iPad.  The line moves faster for everyone if all the health checks are completed before 8:30am.

Safety Update about Face Coverings
The district has updated the safety directives to include that face coverings worn by students and staff must be masks.  Gaiter-style face coverings or bandanas are no longer an acceptable alternative.  We have extra masks at school if your student forgets their mask at home.  See the district policy on face coverings here.

What if My Child is Sick?
Please be sure to contact the school nurse via email or phone if your student has any possible COVID symptoms, is having a COVID test, or is a Close Contact of someone who is known to have COVID.  We need to be able to respond quickly to COVID cases to protect all the students and staff at our school.

COVID Vaccine News
There is good news about vaccines!  Everyone 12 years old and up is now eligible for a COVID vaccine, and the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is available once again.  One good website to search for vaccine appointments is https://prepmod.doh.wa.gov/  You can also use this website to search for a specific brand of vaccine.  One local resource is the King County Vaccination Partnership on the Microsoft Campus.  Click here to pre-register, and then call (425) 899-3933 to schedule.  For help with other areas in the state, call 1-800-525-0127.

Community Assistance
During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our community has come together to help families in need.  Organizations are ready to help with food, housing, healthcare and more. For more information use this link: https://www.nsd.org/northshore-learns/community/assistance

School lunches and breakfasts remain available for any child under 18.  A weekly meal pick-up is available for remote students.  Orders must be placed a week in advance for weekly meal pick up.  See http://www.nsd.org/meals for more information.

Please reach out to me with questions, thank you!

Message from the School Counselor

Dear Frank Love Families,

Lunch Bunch: Lunch Bunch is now on WEDNESDAYS! Everyone is welcome to attend. Next week’s theme will be “Science”. Let’s do some science together!

Lunch Bunch Schedule on Wednesdays:
K/1 11:00-11:30
2nd 11:30-12:00
3rd 12:00-12:30
4/5 12:30-1:00

Social Emotional Learning Read Aloud: I wanted to share a read aloud I recently recorded about “flexible thinking”, A Little Spot of Flexible Thinking by Diane Alber. Flexible thinking allows us to adapt to change and we certainly have had to deal with a lot of change during the last year! Rigid thinking can lead to frustration, while flexible thinking can help keep us calm. Practicing flexible thinking includes planning multiple options to solve problems, using your self-talk, and being willing to try something new. You can help your student by practicing and demonstrating flexible thinking at home.

Take care,
Mrs. Weber
